Haunted house season is upon us! While I like ghosts and goblins and ghouls, my kids are too young to get anywhere near a scary, haunted ANYTHING. We like to keep the creepiness to a minimum.
But let’s say you have older kids who are craving a fright or two. Or you’d like a fun but spooky date night with the spouse. There’s actually one great place in Beaver County that can fit everyone in—The Windmill in Hopewell Township! Every fall, The Windmill converts its mini golf course into Haunted Mini-Golf. The best part? Younger kids can play mini golf surrounded by lots of non-threatening ghostly inflatable decorations from 2 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Then, after 6:30 at night until 11 p.m., older kids and adults can get a scare while playing with glow-in-the-dark golf balls. It’s dark and there are creepy scenes, ghoulish characters walking around, and of course, what’s a haunted golf course without some chainsaw? Freddy would feel right at home here after dark!
I just went there with my kids during the day and we had a lot of fun, looking at all the decorations while playing 18 holes of miniature golf. This course is also completely surrounded by huge cornstalks, giving it a "Children of the Corn" feel--which would be very creepy at night!
There’s also a large menu for dinner or snacks, plus a good-sized seating area, and of course there’s the famous Windmill ice cream that you probably grew up on if you’re from this area.
Haunted Mini Golf is open seven days a week from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. until Saturday, November 5. The price of admission to golf is $10 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under.
