Lots of activities for the kids too!

March 22, 2013
It’s a sure sign of spring: The Home and Garden Show is coming to Beaver County! The popular event, sponsored by The Beaver County Times, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at the Community College of Beaver County.

“We are really looking forward to having the Home and Garden Show again this year; it’s always been our most popular community event,” said Sue Miller, event coordinator at The Times. The show was last held in 2010.

There will be presentations, consultations, exhibitors, and prizes. It's a day the whole family will enjoy. There will be a barnyard petting zoo and a Home Depot Kids Club project, so bring the kids!

“Following a two-year hiatus, we’re expecting area businesses will be very excited to greet visitors to the show,” Miller said. “They’ll offer tips, ideas and products to help local residents spruce up for spring or tackle a special project they may have been putting off.”

Visitors can watch a variety of demonstrations by home and garden experts, and browse among 60-plus exhibitors.

Pittsburgh designer Luca Paganico, a contestant on Season 7 of HGTV’s "Design Star," will be the main-stage feature. Paganico is founder and president of Paganico Designs, a commercial and residential design firm. His creations can be found in cities from Miami to Los Angeles – from restaurants and live entertainment venues to private homes. His work has earned him the 2011 AIA (American Institute of Architects) People’s Choice Award, and has also been featured on MTV.

Also featured is Doug Oster, an Emmy Award-winning producer, television host and writer. He's the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Backyard Gardener and co-host/producer of The Organic Gardeners Radio show every Sunday morning on KDKA radio in Pittsburgh.

If you’re looking forward to developing your green thumb this spring, be sure to check out the booth and presentations from the Master Gardeners of Penn State Cooperative Extension.

Another highlight is a “money machine” booth, sponsored by ESB Bank. Some lucky guests will have the chance to go into the booth and catch flying money and coupons, said Miller.

The Beaver County Humane Society, a partner for the event, and will sell concessions all day, with proceeds benefiting the society. The organization will also have an exhibit area where it will provide information and possibly even have a pet or two on hand.
