Experience the Magic of Blue Ribbon Farms!

Summer Camps and Horse-Riding Lessons in Beaver County

April 10, 2014
Summer at Blue Ribbon Farms is absolutely magical! Majestic horses are grazing on green pastures. Trees, flowers, and vegetable gardens abound. A mom and her baby ducks are swimming in the pond. The barns are full of mothers and baby animals. Raccoon Creek runs through the back pastures. Located in Independence Township, this beautiful 124-acre farm is situated a mere 10 minutes from the Greater Pittsburgh Airport. Now, your children can experience the magic! In addition to being a first-class equestrian facility with a highly successful riding program leading the state of Pennsylvania year after year in state championships, Blue Ribbon Farms offers Beaver County summer camp opportunities.

At Little Farmers Day Camp your child will be entertained, educated, and amazed by the every day wonders of the farm. Imagine your child experiencing bottle feeding a newborn calf, riding a pony, holding and petting a bunny. How about feeding and caring for lambs, goats, ducks, chickens, and baby pigs? OR better yet, learning to care for and cultivate an expansive garden. Collecting eggs, preparing dishes made from foods grown on the farm. However, farm life is not all work. Crafts, games, nature walks, wading and exploring Raccoon Creek also help round out the day of work, play, exercise and learning.

At Blue Ribbon Farms Horse Camp, the emphasis is on basic introduction to horse care and riding. The day starts with the stars of our program, the horses. While the morning is still cool, the children are closely supervised and instructed on the proper handling, grooming, tacking and riding of these beautiful animals. The riding portion is taught by national-level equestrians, and the children are accompanied by current experienced members of the BRF show team. The horses, many of which are retired world and national-level show horses, are calm, gentle, well groomed and give lessons to children on a regular basis.

The children are divided into small groups and work on riding skills or enjoy a leisurely trail ride. After lunch, as the heat of the day progresses, they move on to team-building activities with horse knowledge, games, water obstacles, and wading and exploring Raccoon Creek. The day always ends with a cool treat! If it is necessary to move indoors due to weather, the indoor arena allows the day’s events to take place in a dry, safe environment.  Friendships are made and self-confidence abounds as children master their skills with these gentle and beautiful animals.

The laughs, smiles, friendships, and memories are endless. Dreams really do come true at Blue Ribbon Farms. It is an experience your child will never forget. In addition to summer camps, year-round riding lessons are also offered. Every level of rider from completely novice to advanced will be challenged. Both children and adult lessons are available in both private and group sessions. Blue Ribbon Farms specializes in English, Western, Jumping and Barrel Racing.

Dan McLaughlin, owner and Trainer, has been coaching riders and training horses for almost 30 years. He has trained and coached many world and national champions. His primary focus is now high-level all breed youth shows. The BRF show team will be competing at The All American Youth Show in Columbus, Ohio in May. This is the largest all-breed youth show in the United States. The competition is fierce, but for the last two years the BRF show team has won more ribbons and awards than anyone else at the show. That is quite an accomplishment!

Birthday parties are another way to experience the farm. Various birthday party packages are available for Beaver County residents and those in surrounding areas. For details on any of the activities offered at Blue Ribbon Farms check out www.blueribbonfarmsinc.com or www.littlefarmersdaycamp.com.
