A New Chapter For Beaver Valley Montessori School

By Kristina M. Milbauer, Administrator, Beaver Valley Montessori PreSchool April 24, 2014
Change is all around us and happening every day. From changes in the seasons, weather changes to cultural changes at work, these opportunities are learned life skills that allow us to adapt to change. Like the world around us, Beaver Valley Montessori PreSchool is about to undergo some changes.

As we come to the close of the 2014 school year, Beaver Valley Montessori PreSchool will be relocating to a new space during the summer months. Beginning in the fall of 2014, we are excited to begin a new chapter in providing Montessori preschool education in our new space located in the New Horizon’s building located at 128 Friendship Circle, Beaver, PA 15009.

As we begin to anticipate this change, we know the foundation for providing Montessori education and our teaching philosophy of respect for others, encouragement of self-discovery and involvement in our community will remain steadfast.

For young children, understanding they have a new place to go to school, but realizing they will continue to see their friends and be allowed to explore their chosen works will minimize the uncertainty of change. The support system of our staff and parents will provide opportunities to embrace change, explore emotions and embark on a new adventure.

Being aware of feelings and having a vocabulary to name feelings is important. Without learning how to process change, people feel trapped and unable to move forward in time of change. Our physical and emotional reactions help us meet change, address our feelings and learn to relax.

Things that can help us feel better about change can include: being in nature, learning to breath and observing how others are coping with change. Young children pick up anxiousness and feelings from their parents. If parents exhibit a relaxed attitude toward change, children will learn coping mechanisms that will embrace new things.

As we finish out our school year, we are excited to move forward with change, knowing that these skills will enable our children to learn about and cope with a lifetime of change and growth.
