Six Easy Hair Styling Tips:

Amie, our training director, recommends the following prep for getting that "go-to" look for a night out or holiday party:
To ensure any hair style stays in, you need to build a good foundation. This foundation is built from the products you place in your hair while it’s still wet. Fine hair needs a volumizer. Two of our favorite products are Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Blow out Spray and Hydrofoam Whip. Consider Unite brand Lazer Straight to smooth thick, unruly hair.

Blow your hair 80% dry and then finish the drying process using a blow dryer and round brush. This saves time and helps build volume.

For short hair, glam up your look by adding volume to the back of your crown by teasing your hair. Accessorizing with a head band or hair broach is also an easy way to go from day to evering.

For any "pinned up" look, create some quick curls all over to create a messy texture that will help build body before pinning up. Spray dry hair with Aquage Working Spray and then wrap sections of hair around a medium size curling iron. (see photo) Curling and pinning shoulder-length hair to one side can be a festive look that's fast and easy.

A holiday "up do"

Here is a fun "up do" that you can style quickly for Holiday parties:
  • After drying and creating texture by curling (that will help hold your ‘do), tease for volume at the crown and sides using a teasing brush or comb.
  • Section hair into three low-braided pony tails:  middle, left and right.
  • Start In the middle. Twist each braid into a low bun, pin in place, and continue with the braids on either side.
  • For a wispy look, pull out pieces around your face to frame your features.
Here are some pictures to see how it's done:
1. Curl your hair

2. Tease your hair

Great tips from Jessica, a skilled makeup and hair stylist at A Sense of Eden.

Jess recommends starting any day with a 5-minute face and glamming it up for nights out.

To Glam Up Your Day Face, Just:
  1. Add eyeliner—and Jess recommends that it should just be added on the top lid. Liner helps your look transition to evening, and it adds a dramatic look to your whole face.
  2. Experiment with eye shadow in dramatic hues. Jess recommends that women with green/blue eyes should use copper or warm brown colors; those with hazel eyes use green eye shadow, and for brown eyes, try plum colors. a lip liner to glam up your gloss.
  3. For an even more dramatic look, use false eyelashes!
  4. Use a lip liner to glam up your gloss.
  5. Apply your blush slightly heavier from above and behind the apples of your cheeks for a more contoured evening look.
  6. Jess also recommends adding some sparkly dangle or hoop earrings to really add some glamour to your overall look!
