The best of hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and off-roading!

January 29, 2015
One of Pittsburgh’s great sports traditions, the Allegheny Sport, Travel and Outdoor Show, will celebrate its 30th year of bringing the best of hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and off-roading under one roof when it returns to the Monroeville Convention Center Wednesday, February 18 through Sunday, February 22.

Western Pennsylvania’s only sporting and outdoor show celebrates the diversity of the region’s natural resources and the outdoor traditions treasured by thousands in the region. The show will feature fishing, camping, and hunting outfitters from across the country, dozens of live demonstrations and exhibits, vacation destinations (domestic and international), a fascinating line-up of expert seminars geared for every type of outdoor enthusiast, plus hands-on activities for the entire family. And because parking and admission for children age 12 and under are free, the Sport Show offers family fun at an incredible value.

The show is a once-a-year opportunity to get up close and personal with some of sports’ biggest names. In 2015, the Sports Show will welcome television’s hottest outdoorsmen and women to Pittsburgh:

Chris and Casey Keefer – Pittsburgh Natives and Stars of Sportsman Channel’s “Dropped: Project Alaska” and “BackCountry: Quest”
Whether they’re chasing Midwestern whitetails, trophy-caliber black bears, or rutting bull elk the Keefer Brothers stop at nothing when they’re on one of the high-energy hunts and survival treks seen on their hugely popular shows, “Dropped: Project Alaska” and “BackCountry: Quest.” The Keefer brothers are scheduled to appear Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20.

Theresa Vail – Star of Outdoor Channel’s Upcoming Show "Limitless”
If looks could kill, this bombshell hunter and star of the upcoming Outdoor Channel show “Limitless” would be a double threat! An avid bowhunter and official NRA spokesperson, Vail will host several seminar presentations on Saturday, February 21.

Hal Shaffer – Star of the Outdoor Channel’s “Drop Zone”
With an infectious personality only overshadowed by his love of the outdoors, master hunter Hal Shaffer pursues whitetail, elk, mule deer waterfowl, turkey and other game with equal passion. Shaffer is scheduled to appear Sunday, February 22.

This year’s show will also feature brand new organizations and vendors, in addition to returning favorites.

Back by popular demand are the spine-tingling animal adventures of the Wild World Of Animals. Pittsburgh’s own Grant Kemmerer will showcase his wild menagerie of exotic and lethal creatures including an African spotted leopard, Siberian lynx, baby black leopard, kangaroo, and even a bearded pig!  Kemmerer’s fast-paced, entertaining and educational program is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for children and adults alike.

New for 2015, the local chapter of the organization Heroes on the Water will be on hand to talk about their mission to help our Nation’s warriors and veterans heal, unwind, and enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow veterans through kayak fishing. This volunteer-based organization gives veterans the chance to get out on the water, and decompress from the stresses associated with combat and the physical rigors of rehabilitation. Veterans looking for get involved or kayak fishermen interested in volunteering can stop by the Heroes on the Water booth.

Among local outdoor sports authorities, the Allegheny Sport Show is particularly noted for its depth of state-of-the-art equipment that’s often difficult to locate at local retailers.  But less experienced sportsmen will also want to stop by to check out the rods, reels, fishing boats, lures, hunting gear, ATV/quads, and other equipment that are slated to be on sale at some of the best prices of the season.

In addition, those contemplating spring and summer vacations will want to chat with the Show’s many seasoned travel professionals from as close as Ohio Pyle and as far away as Africa. From family camping trips, fishing charters, and even once-in-a-lifetime hunting excursions in exotic locales, on-the-go types can start planning their next adventure at the Show.
