Forward/U Drug Awareness Event in Beaver County!

April 18 at CCBC

March 26, 2015
Keystone Wellness Programs, on behalf of Beaver County Behavioral Health, is hosting Forward /U, an initiative to help teens recognize and confront negative pressures and behaviors. Forward/U. is an interactive choice-coaching program that brings parents and teens together for a day of awareness activities. The campaign's focus is empowering teens to make smart decisions about drugs, alcohol, and other destructive behaviors.

On April 18, 2015, Forward /U will be held at the event at the CCBC Campus from 12-4 p.m. Families will participate in a variety of interactive activities to bridge gaps in communication. Parents will have the opportunity to explore a staged teen bedroom, filled with hidden signs of dangerous behaviors. Then, you will hear a speaker from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General who will discuss cyber safety for your teens.

At the same time, your teens will be participating in a scavenger hunt with meaningful challenges that provide them with a safe opportunity to open up about the many pressures they face daily. Every teen receives a Forward/U drawstring bag and is entered to win an iPad Mini!

Keystone Wellness Programs Director Lori Vish-Stearns says, "The more parents and teens are aware of the risks around them, the better prepared they'll be to confront them, make informed decisions, clarify personal goals, and effectively achieve them. Forward/U heightens 'influence literacy' among parents and teens and promotes critical thinking and individuality."

Registration for the 2015 Forward /U. April 18 event is required. Lunch is free and will be provided at 11:30 a.m. To register online or learn more about Forward/U., visit KeystoneWellnessPrograms.org or call Keystone Wellness Programs at 724-432-3474.
