Mariah's Movers Carnival

Sunday, May 24 at Brady's Run Park Lodge

May 21, 2015

When Mariah Aquino-Truss was diagnosed with polyarticular spondyloarthropathy, a form of arthritis, at age five, she made it her mission then to educate the public and fight for a cure.

Three years later, Mariah, who resides in Patterson Heights, is hosting her fourth annual Mariah’s Movers Carnival to raise funds and awareness for the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Western Pennsylvania.

“A lot of people think of older people when they think of arthritis, and they don’t know that kids can get it, too. I wanted to have the Mariah’s Movers Carnival to teach people about the disease, and raise money for the foundation, said Mariah. “Just because I have this disease doesn’t mean I can’t be a kid. It may be really hard some days, but I’m not scared!”

The Mariah’s Movers Carnival will be held Sunday, May 24 from noon to 5 p.m. at Brady's Run Park Lodge, Brady's Run Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010. The family-friendly, fun event will feature traditional carnival food, a paddle party, a bounce castle, face painting, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, a raffle, and more! All proceeds will benefit the Arthritis Foundation.

Arthritis is the #1 cause of disability in the United States affecting more than 50 million Americans and nearly 300,000 children have been diagnosed with arthritis.

“We’re really proud of what Mariah has set out to accomplish at such a young age. To see such a small little girl with such a powerful message and outlook is inspiring,” said Tory Aquino, Mariah’s mother. “She is such an inspiration to her family and friends and we are so proud of her and what she is doing. The community has been so supportive and we are incredibly blessed. Last year people of all ages attended the carnival, which was fantastic!”

The Carnival is just a $5 donation per person. Some activities may carry an additional fee. Make plans Memorial Day weekend to visit the Lodge at Brady's Park for this great event!
