My 5-year-old daughter and I were invited to the Imagination Movers concert this week at the Benedum Center. Here's how the conversation went when we walked in:
Rachel: Will I get to say hi to them?
Me: No, they'll be on stage. We'll be in our seats.
Rachel: But I want to say hi! Because I want to be a rock star and they're rock stars! I want to tell them!
Me: No, sorry. You can write them a letter or something and tell them that. And you can't be a rock star until you finish college.
Rachel, dejected: Okaaaaaay.
So, I was totally wrong. This show is VERY hands on. The Movers rocked the Benedum for an hour and a half, and spent A LOT of time in the audience, greeting the kids and parents. They didn't just stay near the front--they went in the back, they walked up to the second tier seats, they played their guitars for people, they high-fived every kid who came their way, and they handed out special green Imagination Movers guitar picks. When Mover Rich handed my daughter a pick, she squealed like Justin Beiber was in the house.
They also run around the whole time. They didn't stand still for one moment, and they gave everything they had to keep the kids happy. Kids LOVE the Imagination Movers and all of their songs. They were dancing in the aisles, jumping up and down, singing, and dancing. It was like a huge party!
Nina and Warehouse House (from the Imagination Movers TV show) joined the Movers to help sing songs and keep the party going. The audience was also treated to Genevieve and DC from Choo Choo Soul (I love Genevieve, she has a beautiful voice) to start out the concert.
The Imagination Movers put on a great show! Don't miss them the next time they're in town!
